Trump Signals Final Decision on Iran Soon, Links Hormuz Strait Reopening to Nuclear Deal

Trump Iran final decision

U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that a final decision regarding Iran could be made soon, as Washington continues negotiations aimed at reducing tensions in the Middle East.

Speaking amid ongoing diplomatic efforts, Trump said his administration is actively reviewing options and holding regular meetings with national security officials to determine the next steps in dealing with Iran. He stressed that any future agreement must guarantee that Tehran never develops nuclear weapons.

Trump also outlined conditions related to the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s busiest oil shipping routes. According to the U.S. president, the waterway should be fully reopened to international shipping without restrictions, while any maritime threats, including sea mines, must be removed to ensure safe passage for commercial vessels.

He said the United States is continuing efforts to protect regional shipping lanes and maintain stability in global energy markets. Trump added that international agencies and relevant partners would be involved in monitoring issues related to nuclear materials and uranium enrichment.

Iran, however, has responded cautiously. Statements linked to senior Iranian officials suggested that Tehran would judge any agreement based on practical actions rather than political promises, emphasizing that trust must be built through concrete measures.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said diplomatic contacts and regional consultations remain ongoing, though significant differences between the two sides still need to be resolved.

Analysts say any breakthrough involving the Strait of Hormuz could have a major impact on global oil prices and international trade, given that a large share of the world’s energy exports passes through the narrow waterway.

While negotiations continue, uncertainty remains over whether Washington and Tehran can reach a deal that satisfies both sides on security, nuclear activities, and regional stability.
