US: President Donald Trump has issued a strong statement on the ongoing nuclear negotiations with Iran, saying sanctions and the blockade against Tehran will remain in place until a final agreement is fully approved, certified and signed.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said the talks with Iran were moving in the “right direction” but stressed that there would be no rush to seal a deal. “Both sides must take their time and get it right. There can be no mistakes,” he wrote.
Trump claimed relations between the United States and Iran were becoming more “professional and productive,” but made it clear that Iran would never be allowed to build or acquire nuclear weapons.
The US President also thanked Middle Eastern nations for their support and cooperation, saying the Abraham Accords would continue to expand and strengthen. He even suggested that Iran could eventually become part of the agreement framework.
Trump Targets Obama-Era Iran Deal
Trump once again attacked former President Barack Obama over the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement, calling it “one of the worst deals ever signed” by the United States. He alleged that the deal created a pathway for Iran to develop nuclear weapons, something his administration would not allow.
Meanwhile, Trump also shared an AI-generated image on social media showing a US drone striking an Iranian naval vessel, captioned “Adios,” which quickly went viral online.
Talks With Netanyahu And Gulf Leaders
Trump revealed that he had spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and claimed that most points of a possible agreement had already been negotiated, with only final details remaining. He also hinted that the Strait of Hormuz could be reopened under the proposed arrangement.
The comments came after Trump reportedly held discussions with Gulf leaders and Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir regarding regional peace and Iran-related developments.
Marco Rubio Hints At “Good News”
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, currently on a visit to India, also signalled possible progress in the negotiations. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Rubio said the world could hear “some good news” regarding the US-Iran talks within the next few hours.
Iran Accuses US Of Changing Demands
Iran, however, accused Washington of repeatedly shifting its position during negotiations. Iranian officials said the US continued to introduce new demands and leak details of the proposed memorandum of understanding.
Tehran maintained that it remained open to diplomatic talks but claimed the US was attempting to maximise its advantage at the last moment and moving away from previously agreed points.
