Donald Trump Hints at 2028 Presidential Run After Sharing AI Image

Donald Trump signals readiness to run in 2028 US election with AI-generated image – “Trumplicans!”

Washington: Former US President Donald Trump has hinted that he may contest the 2028 presidential election, marking what would be his fourth bid for the White House. Trump recently shared an image created using artificial intelligence, sparking widespread discussion about his future political ambitions.

Trump has already contested three presidential elections, winning twice. With this latest signal, speculation is growing that he may again seek the Republican nomination in 2028.

AI Image Sparks Debate

Trump posted the AI-generated picture on his Truth Social account. In the image, he is seen holding a blue signboard that reads: “Trump 2028, Yes!”
In the caption, he wrote: “Trumplicans!” — a blend of the words “Trump” and “Republicans”, further fuelling speculation.

Renewed Debate Over the 22nd Amendment

The post immediately reignited debate surrounding the 22nd Amendment, which limits a US president to two elected terms. Trump’s post has raised questions over whether he is attempting to stir interest in challenging or revisiting the rule.

This message comes nearly ten months into his second presidential term, which began on 20 January 2025. Trump is currently working with a Republican-controlled Congress to advance his “America First 2.0” agenda, which includes stricter immigration controls and higher tariffs on major trading partners.

“Trump 2028” Becomes a Recurring Theme

The “Trump 2028” slogan has increasingly appeared on merchandise and at public events. In September, Trump shared photographs from an Oval Office meeting with Democratic leaders Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer, where “Trump 2028” hats were visibly placed on his desk.

In October, House Speaker and prominent Republican Mike Johnson attempted to downplay the matter, saying Trump was simply “having fun… trolling”.

Why Trump May Not Be Eligible to Run Again

Despite the speculation, Trump has also acknowledged the constitutional barrier. Last month, he commented:

“I’m not allowed to run, which is very unfortunate.”

Meanwhile, a new survey by McLaughlin & Associates suggests that Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., is now emerging as a leading potential Republican contender for 2028. His rising popularity puts him in direct competition with current Vice President JD Vance, who is also considered a likely candidate.
