Iran Allowed 10 Oil Tankers to Pass as a “Gesture”, Says Trump

Posted on March 26, 2026

Washington: US President Donald Trump said that Iran allowed 10 oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz as a sign of goodwill during ongoing tensions.

He explained that first eight oil tankers were allowed to pass, and later two more were given permission, making it a total of 10 ships. According to Trump, this was Iran’s way of showing that it is serious about talks related to ending the conflict.

Interestingly, these tankers were not carrying American flags. Some of them were using Pakistan’s flag.

Speaking at a White House meeting, Trump said this shows that there are ongoing but private discussions between the US and Iran. He mentioned that when he saw the news about tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz, it looked unusual, but he believes Iran did it to build trust.

Trump also said that reports claiming the US wants a deal are not true. Instead, he claimed that Iran is the one pushing hard for an agreement. He added that Iran has become weak and is now eager to negotiate, even though publicly they deny it.
